Don't forget! For minors under the age of 18, you MUST have a Custodial Parent or Legal Guardian present with their driver's license or state issued ID.
3 Steps to Your First License or ID
Step 1: Confirm State Requirements
For a first-time Class "E" driver's license or if you are upgrading from your TIP or Learner's Permit, you MUST:
- Meet age requirements
- Be at least 17 years of age for a full unrestricted DL
- Be 15 years of age or older for an upgrade from the TIP.
- Pass the Vision, Knowledge (written) test, and Road Skills test administered by a driver education provider. All road skills tests must be performed at a driving school.
- Meet all of the requirements from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles

Never had an ID or LA driver's license? You MUST:
- Obtain your first ID or DL from the OMV
We cannot assist anyone with a LIMITED-TERM ID or DL:
- Always visit the OMV for any of your ID or DL needs. Only the OMV can help Limited-Term ID and DL.

Step 2: Gather Required Documents
For Clearview to issue first-time Class "E" driver's licenses, over 18 years of age, you MUST:
- Present a Louisiana TIP, Learner's Permit, or have been issued a Louisiana driver's license in the past.*
- If applicable, present proof of completion of the driver's education course (vision, knowledge, and road skills test) in the sealed envelope.
- Present one (1) Primary Document such as a certified birth certificate, Louisiana ID card, current passport, other current state-issued-driver's license or ID card, or current military ID.
- One proof of residency
- Proof of auto insurance when applicable.
- Verify your Social Security Number.
If under 18 years of age:
- Have all the above information AND
- Have a Custodial Parent or Legal Guardian** present with their driver's license or state issued ID.
- Original Birth Certificate
*NOTE: If you have had a Louisiana license in the past 10 years and your number was not purged from the OMV system Clearview Auto Title & Notary CAN issue you a new license.
**Legal guardians must have the original court documents with them in order to proceed.
For Clearview to issue a first-time ID card, you MUST:
- Already have a Louisiana state-issued driver's license.

Requirements for Duplicate or Replacement Identification Card

One (1) secondary document (such as a social security card, W-2 form, payroll stub, tax return, and proof of residency from a utility bill, bank statement, insurance policy, or voter registration card).
