Renew or Duplicate Your Louisiana Driver's License

Renewing or duplicating your license doesn’t have to be confusing. At Clearview Auto Title & Notary (an Authorized Louisiana OMV Partner), we’ll guide you through exactly what to bring, what to expect, and where to go.

Note: We are not the DMV. We provide many of the same services with clear guidance and a calmer, easier experience. We DO NOT issue, renew, or duplicate Limited Term Driver's Licenses.

A Simple 3-Step Process to Renew

Step 1: Know Before You Go

Louisiana law requires a license holder to be eligible to renew their license up to 180 days prior to or upon expiration.

An applicant may change their class of license at renewal or between the renewal periods.

If you're unsure of your license status, you can check that here before moving on to the next step.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS SEVENTEEN (17) AND UNDER: The signature of the custodial parent or legal guardian is required for the issuance of any credential (including first time applications, duplicates and changing restrictions). Identification must be presented by the minor and the parent or guardian. Only the domiciliary parent may sign if joint custody has been awarded. A Certificate of Required Attendance is required from the applicant’s high school.

Step 2: Gather the Right Documents

  • Proper Identification
(Your current or expired Louisiana driver’s license)

  • Social Security Number

  • Proof of current liability insurance, if applicable

  • Proof of Louisiana residency (Examples: utility bill, bank statement, mortgage/lease, insurance policy)

  • Payment method (cash or card)

Step 3: Pass the Tests

Once you have your documents, stop by the Clearview location closest to you.

We’ll help you check your documents, answer questions, and guide you through:

  • Successful passing of vision test

  • If an applicant under the age of eighteen applies for a duplicate Louisiana driver's license and a photo image exists under the Photo Retrieve Program and the applicant is clearly identified, the signature of the custodial parent or legal guardian is required prior to issuance.
